Research Engineer Role – Cambridge, UK

Help develop Level 4 and 5 autonomy in self-driving vehicles in the UK, in a fast-paced, cutting-edge environment.

What are the responsibilities in the research engineer role?

  • Using vision and LIDAR data in urban areas, the successful candidate will work in the mapping and localisation, with a focus on online localization
  • Experiment and implement algorithms for localization using vision
  • Work closely with a diverse team of leading experts in areas such as computer vision, AI, mechatronics, planning, control, localisation, robotics, mechatronics and automated testing

 

What are the requirements in the research engineer role?

  • Minimum of 2:1 degree qualification, or equivalent, in computer science, mathematics, physical sciences or engineering from a top university
  • Strong mathematic competency
  • Proven experience and outstanding skills in programming with a language such as Java, C++, modern or Python
  • Previous experience in localization and/or robotics, sensor fusion, SLAM
  • Experience with computer vision/deep learning and libraries such as Keras, Tensorflow, OpenCV or Caffe would be an advantage
  • Previous experience using ROS in a plus
